Cable Snapped at Walled lake Amusement Park
Detroit - Seven persons were injured Sunday night when a 50-foot cable from an airplane ride at Walled lake Amusement Park snapped and whipped through a crowd of onlookers.
Police said it was a miracle that on on e was killed. Most severely injured was Mrs. Beatrice Schwartz of Detroit, whose left eye was damaged seriously.
Park Manager, Robert Templeton said the cable, one of four supporting a plane, broke without warning and flailed through the crown. He said the operator of the ride shut it off immediately, but the momentum kept the cable slicing through the crown.
Charles Pierson, an onlooker, assid the cable was like a "horror movie monster" which caused the crowd to dive on the ground in fear of their lives.
