Two Farmington families driven from their home


Farmington MI, August 2nd – Trade fillings and Mark Cooley, who, with their families, have resided one mile west of this village were confronted by a large crowd who drove on to their premises last night, and told them that they would be given three hours to pack up and get out of the place. The attempt was to remonstrate, But the manner in which the crowd handled things left no doubt in their minds but what it meant by get out or be cleaned out. Their few household Goods were hastily packed into a wagon and a lesson the stipulated time they started off, followed by a howling, jeering mob, who made the night hideous with chin horns and pistol shots the families incurred the displeasure of the farmers and the locality By the manner in which they deported themselves. Billings and Cooley both threaten to prosecute and it may be possible that the courts of this town will have a case somewhere to the Evans lynching a fair before long.
