P. Dean Warner Dies of old age


Governors Foster father succumbs at Farmington, nearly 90 years old Farmington Killer MI, August 29th – P. Dean Warner, Foster father of Governor Fred M. Warner, died at the governor’s residence here at 9:00 o’clock last night from ills incident to the infirmities over the age. Although not compelled to choose bed, He had been in feeble health for some weeks, and his son has spent much of his time with his father, being at his bedside when the end came. He was 88 years old and is survived by a widow two years as junior. The funeral will be held at the governor’s residence at 2:00 o’clock Wednesday afternoon. P. Dean Warner Was born in New York state In 1822, and when two years old made the trip by Lake to Michigan with his parents. The journeyed of the Rouge River to Dearborn and cut their way through the wilderness to this place, It taking them three days to make the journey through the woods. Mr Warner was the second white child in this section, the other heaven and born only two days before he reached here. When a young man Mr Warner engaged in the Mercantile Business, being succeeded by his son 25 years ago. Later he established a private bank which a few years ago was merged into the Exchange Bank of Farmington, Of which he was president up to the time of his death. In his early manhood he took an active interest in Democratic politics During the Fremont campaign he became a Republican and in 1865 and 1869 was returned to the Legislature being elected speaker in his last team. In 1869 he was elected state senator, retiring at the expiration of his term. His kindly, gentle disposition, endeared him to the whole community and his death as cast gloom over the village.
