Youth Loses Life In First Ski Jump

Injuries At Rochester Fatal To Detroiter


First attempt to ski jumping cost the life of Leslie Hawkins, 23 years old of 1227 Spruce St. who died in Highland Park General Hospital at 10 AM yesterday of injuries suffered in a fall at the Detroit ski club, in Rochester, Sunday. Hawkins was at the club with a party of friends and upon discovering that he was able to keep his feet with skis, made his way to the top of the smaller of two slides at the club. He kept on his feet until the takeoff, where he lost his balance and fell on his back.
