Swimmer Drowns Cramps Blamed


Pontiac, Jun 15 - While companions looked on from the shore unaware that he was fighting for his life. Harold Belcher, 30 years old, New Hudson drowned in the Standard Sand and Gravel company pit, one Mile north of New Hudson, at 9:45 o'clock this morning. Belcher is believed to have been stricken with cramps. The water coming from the underground springs, was extremely cold. His companions in the water saw him struggle for a minute in the ater and the sink in the 29 foot depths. Deputy Sheriffs Fred J. MacFarlane and John Marek recovered the body two hours later.
