Burglaries At Rochester and Commerce

Monday Sheriff Balt issued announcements stating that he will pay $15 and E. S. Welch, on Commerce, #10 for the arrest and conviction of the thief of thieves who entered Welch's store at Commerce Saturday night and helped themselves to what they wanted. In his list of missing property, Welch enumerates the following; six pairs of suspenders, ten neck ties, a box of cigar, a shaving brush, a quantity of tobacco, twelve pairs of socks of assorted colors an thirteen pocket knives. The sheriff and Mr. Welch state that they believe it is the intention of the thief or thieves to peddle the goods from house to house. Early Saturday morning, burglars paid a visit to the Michigan Central and Air Line depots at Rochester. Former experiences have taught the agents that it wise to remove all the money from the offices when they lock up at night, and therefore the only reward the thieves found was $2.13 in the penny machine in the Michigan Central depot and a few pennies in the cash drawer at the Air Line Depot. A short time ago the Air Line depot was entered and between $20 and $30 taken. As yet there is no clue to either of the burglaries/
