A Stabbing Affray

A disgraceful row occured in the Rob Roy Saloon on Saturday night last, in which Mike Casheon Jr. and a young man named Alexander Leggett, were the principal actors. The riot was finally quelled, and Leggett and his party started to go home and were followed by Casheon and his party. When they arrived at the depot, the fight was renewed, when a fellow belonging to Leggett;s party, by the name of Keeler, drew a knife with which he stabbed Casheon two or three times, inflicting severe wounds. The conductor of the train, which arrived at that time, seeing the affray, arrested Keeler, brought him down town and delivered him over to authorities. The following Monday he with Leggett and Charles Carey, who were brought before Justice Dewey, and their examination on the charge of assault with intent to kill was postponed until Thursday, on account of the condition of the wounded man. On Thursday the examination was again continued until Saturday, as Casheon was not able to attend court. We hope the guilty parties in this affair may meet with the punishment they deserve, and an example made of them that will deter others from indulging in such disgraceful rows in our streets in the future
