Sheep Killed By Dogs

One night last week a flock of fine sheep on the farm of Mr. Shoup, about three miles from this village, as attacked by dogs, and about ten or twelve killed, besides a number being so badly mutilated as to necessitate the slaughtering of them. The same night a farmer named Hunt in the same neighborhood lost several sheep, supposed to have been killed by the same dog or dogs. Mr. Hunt, we understand, saw a dog among hi sheep and drew a bead on him when the gun only snapped, and the marauder made good his escape. Under the new dog law, the loss to the parties thus losing sheep will be made up to them, providing they are not able to obtain satisfaction from the owners of the dogs, and also further provide that there is money in the treasury raised by tax on dogs.
