Fatal Accident at Drayton Plains

A correspondent sends us an account of the death of a man named Charles Collins, one day last week, from being run over by the cars. Collins had been at work for a farmer named Neardslee, north of Waterford village. He left there and went to a hotel in Waterford, on the day of the accident, where he indulged freely in whiskey. He then proceeded to Drayton Plains, where he again drank freely, got into a dispute with some one, and was put out of the saloon. He started up the rail road track, and had got to the curve in the road adjoining the north end of D. M. Ludd's farm, where he met by a young woman, who seeing he was intoxicated, got over the fence to avoid him. She saw him fall down across the track, just as a train coming full speed, and just horrified at the certainty that he would be killed, she ran to a house near by. The train passed directly over him, cutting off his head and one arm, and breaking the other arm. An inquest as held, and a verdict of accidental death rendered. Collins had no friends in this vicinity, so far as known, and leaves no family.
