Mouth Was Burned

John Seres, a well known resident of this vicinity narrowly escaped death Wednesday night from carbolic acid poisoning. Seres had retired but arose in the dark to take a dose of emulsion he had forgotten to take before retiring. Feeling around in the dark he believed he had the bottle and removed the cork and took a good mouthful of the contents, which proved to be carbolic acid. Seres discovered his mistake almost instantly, and did not swallow any of the burning liquid. His mouth and lips were terribly burned by the acid.
