And South Lyon Village Can't Entertain Traveling Public

The hotel agitation at South Lyons goes merrily on, and ever effort to secure a new hotelery meets with an embarrassing failure. Several efforts had been made to buy or rent the Whipple house, which was closed some time ago by landlord Angell, but thus far there seems to be very little encouragement for anybody. The action of landlord Angell in closing the hotel is a conundrum to the residents of the village and its inability to entertain strangers is keenly felt. Parties from Ann Arbor and other points have made an effort to secure the closed hotel on most any kind of an agreement. They have declared themselves anxious to enliven the village by opening a hotel, but their efforts are of no avail. The proposition is to either to open the hipple house or to start a new hotel in another part of the village. George M. Thorndyke, of that place, has rented a portion of the former Moody house, recently purchased by the Baptist society. Moody states that he will probably open the house in a small way next week.
