Result Of Death Of Blanche Burns
Pontiac, Mich, March 24, 1905 - The coroner's inquest today into the cause of the death of Blanche Burns, which occurred Monday night under suspicious circumstances, resulted in the arrest of Carroll Beardsley and John Skoda on the charge of manslaughter. The inquest begun at 9 o'clock and during its progress the officers held a consultation, at which it was decided to issue the warrants. Beardsley was called to the stand but refused to be sworn in or give testimony. Nothing new was brought out at the inquest aside from the fact that the woman had taken morphine while she was with Beardsley in his room. The inquest was adjourned until Wednesday. Beardlsey and Skoda were arraigned before Justice Snowdon late today. Bail was fixed at $4,000 for Beardsley and $1,000 for Skoda.
