Crout, E. C.

E. C. Crout, proprietor of the Fairview Stock Farm, located 1 1/2 miles south of Rochester, Michigan, is one of the most enterprising agriculturalists Oakland County. he was born in 1862 in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, and is a son of T. H. Crout and Mary Bartholomew, both of whom were born in Pennsylvania. A sketch of her subjects father aOur subject, will come to his parents Oakland County in 1869, at the age of seven years, obtained an excellent common school education then traveled for short time as a representative of the business house. In 1891, he went to Indianapolis, Indiana, where there engaged in real estate dealing, in which he is still interested. He has owned his present Fine farm a 65 acres since 1902 and it has become under his management one of the notable spots in Oakland County. He is established here a firm for the Scylla stock at all times the year and is a breeder and shipper of Hereford cattle, large Berkshire hogs, and Barred Plymouth Rock chickens. he keeps on hand a large number of driving and workhorses, more than 150 head of registered Berkshire hogs, any number of registered, pureblood Herford cattle, among them being in eight-month old bull which he values at $500, and a two-year-old bull valued at $1000. Mr. Crout as spare no expense in getting up his farm, having expended some $7000 in buildings alone, always being of the most modern, sanitary kind, with heating and private gas apparatus, telephone and steam fittings, and all so attractive, substantial and convenient as to the place the Fairview Stock Farm far beyond anything else of its kind in this section of the state. his transportation facilities are also of the best, Detroit and Rochester Electric Railroad running on the west side of his farm, where he has erected a private depot. his business is conducted with vigor and push it brings a most satisfactory results improve of much benefit to his neighborhood.ppears on another page of this work. On April 29, 1902 Mr. Crout married Giorgio Connolly, who is a native of Miami, Florida, They have a daughter, Ruth Catherine, born April 14, 1903. In politics Mr. Crout is identified with Republican Party, but his busy life lease and no time to accept public office. He is a liberal contributor to the campaign purpose, as he also is to various public spirited movements and the Township and County.
