Miss Ida Pierce Is Taken By Death. Community Mourns Passing Of Most Estimable Woman. The people of Clarkston and vicinity were deeply grieved to learn of the death of Miss Ida Pierce, which occurred at her home in Clarkston at 9 O'clock Wednesday morning, July 23, following an illness of seven weeks from heart trouble. Miss Pierce was born in Independence township, June 28, 1872, and was a resident of the community all her life. She was a daughter of Delavan and Diana Casler Pierce. As a girl she attended the Oak Hill School and later in life adopted the profession of nursing. This she followed for 25 years, and for the past 15 years or more has conducted a hospital in Clarkston. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors. Miss Pierce was more than highly respected in the community - she was loved by all that knew her, and there were a few who did not claim the honor of her acquaintance. She will be greatly missed in a community where she labored so faithfully and long. Surviving are a brother, William Pierce, of Clarkston, a twin sister, Mrs. Ada E. Mills, from whom she was never separated before except for one year. The funeral will be held at 2:30 o'clock today from the home on holcomb street. Rev. Edw. Stephens, of Stockbridge, a former pastor of the Clarkston M. E. Church, of which the deceased was a member, assisted by Rev. joseph Chapman, will officiata.Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
