The village of Leonard in Addison Twp., Oakland County, Michigan was named after him. When it became know that the railroad was coming through this area, The town of Tromley was resettled to the current village of Leonard. Leonard Rowland donated the land which is the east side of Forest St and E. Elmwood St, Sidney Whitehead platted the west side of the village from his land. Rowland Hall in the village of Leonard is also named after him. Leonard never married.
