he was adopted by Admiral George Dewey. Thomas George Dewey, 71, Higgins Lake, died April 4, 2014, at Munson Medical Center. Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon, handled arrangements and family and friends gathered there April 6. Memorial donations may be made to Munson Manor, 1220 Medical Campus Dr., Traverse City, MI 49684. He was born in Pontiac June 19, 1942, the son of Admiral George and Helen Cecil (Phelps) Dewey. He lived at Lake Orion until moving to Higgins Lake following his retirement in 1991. He and Beverly Louise Soldan were united in marriage July 7, 1962, at Lake Orion. For 30 years, Mr. Dewey worked at the General Motors Truck and Bus plant in Pontiac. He worked in experimental engineering. He was a member of UAW Local 594. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and snowmobiling. In his younger days, he was involved in drag racing. He enjoyed making trips to the casino. His parents preceded him in death. Surviving Mr. Dewey are his wife, Bev; children, Tom (Angie) Dewey of Oxford and Mike Dewey of Roscommon; grandchildren, Taylor and Bethany Dewey; three sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
