BATE, NINA KAY; of Waterford; died February 16, 2015; at 82 years of age. Born November 11, 1932 in Pontiac, Michigan the daughter of the late Milton and Lillian Opie. Beloved wife of late Leonard Joseph Abate. Loving mother of Cheryl (Mark) Gray, Charles (Vanessa) Abate, Lucy (Jeffrey) Roesler, Lorraine (Warren) Pratt and Joseph (Robin) Abate; dearest grandmother of Mathew, Michael, Christopher, Joseph, Brian, Mark, Thomas, Jaclyn, Jessica, Michael, Kristin and Kristina; great grandmother of 18; and sister to 6. Mrs. Abate worked for many years at Pontiac State Bank. She also enjoyed gardening and raising her grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 20, 2015 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 80 S. Lynn St. Waterford. Fr. Jack Baker officiating. Family will receive friends Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at COATS FUNERAL HOME-WATERFORD. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
